Frank began his career in financial services in October 1987, just after graduating from the University of Toronto as a Bachelor of Science. Frank worked with families and business owners to develop financial plans, and implement them with life and health insurance and investment funds.
In 1993, Frank completed the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation focused on financial planning and tax and estate planning, and was awarded the Leslie W. Dunstall medal for the highest academic results in the province of Ontario. The concepts from the CLU program allowed Frank to shift the focus of his practice to the affluent and business-owner markets, primarily dealing with employee benefits plans, shareholder agreements, business continuation planning and business succession planning, as well as family estate planning.
Over time, Frank became interested in the management and operations of financial services firms. He enrolled in the Schulich School of Business MBA program on a part-time basis while continuing to build his practice. In 1997 Frank graduated from this program ‘With Distinction’.
The MBA degree gave Frank additional credibility in his market, and also helped him see many opportunities to improve the operational areas of his branch office. Shortly after graduation, Frank took on the role of Branch Marketing Consultant in Sun Life’s largest Canadian branch office, working with the branch’s top 40 advisors to help them learn the function and application of new insurance and investment products to better help their high-net-worth and business-owner clients achieve their financial goals.
Since that time, Frank has worked in director and management consulting roles with several large financial services organizations including CCH Canadian Inc., the Canadian Securities Institute, and Sun Life Financial. In the summer of 2004, Frank was consulting on the business plan at Page and Associates Ltd., and ended up taking on the general manager role. He comments, “Although this was a smaller company than those I was working with for many years, it had a great history, and a great service. This was an opportunity to have a big impact in the most senior management role, and to have a stake in the firm I’m helping to grow.”
Frank’s focus is now on managing the systems and processes that support the firm’s advisors, and consulting with them to help them better manage their operations. Frank also consults with advisors on cases involving their affluent and business-owner clients to deliver sound financial planning, tax and estate planning advice, and portfolio management services.
Frank lives in Ajax with his wife and two boys, 10 and 12 years old.
